The story of Laurette Fugain

Laurette Fugain, a passionate theater artist, was diagnosed with a serious form of blood cancer, leukemia, in July 2001. She died in 2002 from complications of the disease. During her hospitalization, she expressed her desire to share an important message with the public regarding the lack of information about blood, platelet, and bone marrow donations. Following Laurette Fugain's death, Stéphanie Fugain decided to carry on the fight Laurette had envisioned, creating the Laurette Fugain Association .

What is the Laurette Fugain association?

The Laurette Fugain Association aims to fight leukemia. Its name, as well as that of the Laurette Theatre, was inspired by Laurette Fugain, daughter of Michel Fugain. The Laurette Fugain Association's mission is to support pediatric and adult medical research into the origins and treatment of this type of disease. The majority of the association's resources (over €500,000 per year) are dedicated to this project.

The Laurette Fugain Association also aims to make everyone, especially younger generations, understand the importance of life-saving donations (blood, platelets, bone marrow), which save the lives of many patients suffering from leukemia and other diseases each year. It seeks to raise awareness that donating blood, platelets, or bone marrow can save lives.

The families and relatives of patients are also among those supported by the Laurette Fugain Association. It provides them with support and comfort, whether to improve their daily lives or to care for patients (outings, sports activities in the hospital, donations of equipment for hospital departments, etc.). The association has also established a form of psychological support (a forum on its website).

Created in memory of Laurette Fugain, the Laurette theatre supports the actions of the association.
