LAURETTE FUGAIN ASSOCIATION

TOGETHER AGAINST LEUKEMIA

“We all have the power to give life back to these dying patients.”

By donating our blood, our platelets. By registering on the national bone marrow donor register.

So that patients never die again because they cannot find a donor.

Together, let's act. Let's give a little of our life. Let's support research."

Laurette Fugain Association

Laurette Fugain, the association which fights against leukemia was created in 2002 and works around three main missions:

1. Support Medical Research

Laurette Fugain is today one of the leading associative contributors to funding research against leukemia, with 4.6 million euros allocated since its creation to 100 projects. Laurette Fugain's Scientific and Medical Council (CSM) brings together renowned professors in hematology, and selects, after a call for tenders from the scientific community, the most relevant and hopeful research projects.

The Laurette Fugain Prize rewards young researchers in hematology.

The Young Hopeful Researchers Scholarship allows promising young doctors to attend international conferences.

2. Mobilize around gifts of life

We still know too little that each of us can help patients with leukemia or other forms of cancer to fight their illness, simply by giving a little life. Laurette Fugain provides information on Gifts of Life (blood, plasma, platelets, bone marrow, cord blood and organs), in order to make everyone aware that giving of yourself saves lives and works to facilitate the move to concrete action of the gift. The annual organization of large-scale events, the numerous interventions carried out within companies, the support provided by all sporting projects, makes it possible to

continue raising awareness among the general public.

3. Help patients and families

Laurette Fugain supports the initiatives of hospital staff to improve care and reception for families. Helping to implement innovative and specific projects within hematology departments is a fundamental mission to which Laurette Fugain is committed.

The Isabelle Prize rewards a healthcare team each year for their professional and human qualities and finances a project aimed at improving the hospitalization conditions of patients in hematology care units.

The Nicolas Scholarship allows caregivers to participate in training or interservice exchanges. Finally, donations to hospital services (computer equipment, TV, DVD players, toys, sports equipment, frescoes in treatment rooms) provide well-being to patients during their hospitalization.

The actions carried out by Laurette Fugain made it possible to obtain the Grande Cause Nationale label in 2009 for Gifts of Life and in particular generated a clear increase in donations of blood, platelets and registrations on the register of bone marrow donors.
