Arsène Lupin: who is this intriguing character?

Arsène Lupine is a fictional character invented by Maurice Leblanc. Endowed with a strength of his own, he has the great particularity of using makeup to grimace; he then takes advantage of these artifices to embody different characters... This is also why we know him under various pseudonyms: Raoul Andrésy, Maxime Bermond, or even Rostat.

All these different identities allowed him to lead a double life, retaining his first name to signify his misdeeds.

The very first work in which he appears, published in 1907, he presents himself as the thief of one of Queen Marie-Antoinette's valuable necklaces. Then, we find him in various other acts such as his burglaries of banks, museums and villas.

Note also that Sherlock Holmes himself never managed to pin him down…

In literature, cinema or theater, the adventures of this character made famous by his high-flying flights have been repeated many times.

Although they were interrupted at the same time as the death of its creator, we find them in 2004 in the film with Romain Duris , as well as in 2021 on the Netflix streaming platform in the series Lupine (Omar Sy) .

But at the Laurette Théâtre, it's a completely different adventure that we have to offer you... Between magic and mentalism, follow in the footsteps of the gentleman burglar played by Jean-Michel Lupin !

Jean-Michel Lupine: the new Arsène Lupine

Currently on the stage of our theater , Jean-Michel Lupine has revealed himself many times as an artist of our time, but he also proves to be endowed with numerous skills which have served him during his long career.

We know him as a magician and mentalist, during the performance in his show called In the footsteps of Arsène Lupin: between magic and mentalism, but like the character he embodies, here are his other facets :

  • Professor of Letters,
  • Certified in NLP techniques (Neuro-Linguistic Programming),
  • Certified in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy,
  • Member of the French Federation of Conjurer Artists (FFAP),
  • Member of the International Federation of Magical Societies (FISM).

With this baggage, we could almost imagine that he could see us through the screen... What if that were the case?
