Join us again at the Avignon Off Festival in 2025!

LAURETTE THEATRE

For over 80 years, every July, the Avignon Festival has transformed the City of Popes into a gigantic stage, a vibrant hub of theatrical creations and energy. For its 59th edition, running from July 5th to 26th, 2025, the Laurette Théâtre returns with a powerful and exciting program. Twelve shows will be presented throughout the festival, spread across its two iconic venues: the Grande Salle (100 seats) and the Petite Salle (49 seats), located in the heart of Avignon on Rue Joseph Vernet.

Avignon Off Festival: a rich and varied 2025 program

The Laurette Theatre, known for its long-standing presence at the Avignon Off Festival and the richness of its artistic vision, presents a program this year that blends revisited classics, family comedies, and original creations. Whether you're a fan of heritage texts, theatre for young audiences, cleverly offbeat plays, or participatory performances, everyone will find something to satisfy their curiosity and love of theatre.

Among the twelve shows on offer, some plays are already generating particular enthusiasm.

Two rooms, two atmospheres, one same passion.

Classics revisited with Laurette's twist

In the classical vein, "Don Juan" and "Hamlet" offer a bold reinterpretation of two mythical figures of European theater. "Don Juan," in a taut and contemporary staging, explores the darker aspects of the famous libertine with striking restraint. "Hamlet," meanwhile, presents the Prince of Denmark in all his inner complexity, in a stripped-down yet poignant version. Shakespeare's text is brought to life through a new translation into French alexandrine verse. Another major name in theater is "No Exit," by Jean-Paul Sartre. Driven by a subtle cast, this philosophical work, with its psychological drama elements, finds a new lease on life, a relentless dramatic tension, and a keen sense of the absurd where genres blur.

Humor, when you've got us hooked..

For comedy lovers, the Laurette Théâtre's selection for the 2025 Avignon Off Festival is equally promising. "V'là aut'chose!" brilliantly plays the political comedy card, recounting the outlandish situations of an equally outlandish presidential candidate. "2 hommes et 1 crétin" plunges us into an irresistible burlesque trio, where absurdity and gags punctuate the return of a somewhat tiresome old friend. "Meurtre, sexe et trahison" blurs the lines between thriller and farce, with a frenetic pace.

Family outing

Families aren't forgotten either, with two shows for young audiences produced by Ados.com . In "Vive les vacances en famille" (Hooray for Family Holidays) , a family trip becomes the pretext for a cascade of comical and universal situations. In "Une intelligence artificielle" (Artificial Intelligence) , parents of teenagers confront the challenges of the digital world with humor and finesse.

Our special offer

Among the original creations, "The War of Wrinkles" stands out for its irreverent tone and its acerbic take on the cult of youth. As for "On the Trail of Arsène Lupin: Between Magic and Mentalism ," it promises an immersive theatrical experience, where riddles, illusionism, and treasure hunts intertwine.

An accessible, generous, human theatre

The Laurette Theatre is committed to making theatre accessible to all, without compromising artistic quality. Its close connection with the audience, the diversity of genres represented, and its dedication to blending laughter and reflection are all hallmarks of this unique venue in Avignon's cultural landscape. These qualities make it a preferred location for those who want to enjoy the 2025 Avignon Off Festival in intimate venues while embracing an eclectic program.

Each show has been designed to awaken the senses, provoke thought, or simply entertain. The decision to maintain a packed program throughout the Off Festival demonstrates the Laurette Théâtre's commitment to actively participating in the cultural life of this independent festival, giving opportunities to talented artists, both established and emerging.
