About the show:
2025: Mental illness is designated a major national cause. 2026: Professor Antoine Duvigneau, a high-profile psychiatrist and inventor of neo-psychiatry, is appointed head of the psychiatric hospital "Les Hirondelles-Sainte-Marie"
The three most severely ill patients are subjected to the strictest confinement and the strongest chemical restraint. This goes completely against Professor Duvigneau's convictions. He takes a desperate gamble. He decides to test his theater therapy method with these very three patients, considered by everyone to be beyond help. He decides to stage "The Last Night of Marie Antoinette," a completely forgotten play by Victor Hugo, with them. He administers Alexandrin, a new miracle drug from Houston, to his subjects. The stakes are high for Antoine Duvigneau: if he wins his bet, he will enter the annals of psychiatry in a grand way; if he loses, he will be relegated to the status of a charlatan. But the obstacles are numerous. The three patients have no desire for the slightest change in their routine, and once convinced, they prove uncontrollable; the staff is vehemently opposed to the project. Furthermore, wouldn't the staff be using these three sick individuals for a shady but lucrative trafficking operation? Where would they find the money to finance this crazy project?
Highly determined, will Antoine Duvigneau succeed in overcoming all the obstacles in his path? On opening night, nothing will go as planned.
The professor decided to see his project through to the end, whatever the risks. Will he succeed? Yes! But at what cost: could madness be contagious?
