Laurette Theater in tribute to Laurette Fugain, our friend for life

The story of Laurette Fugain

Laurette Fugain, a passionate theater artist, suffered from a serious form of blood cancer, leukemia affecting her in July 2001. She died in 2002 as a result of this illness. During her hospitalization, she expressed her desire to share an important message with the general public referring to the lack of information on blood, platelet and bone marrow donations. After the death of Laurette Fugain, Stéphanie Fugain decided to lead the fight that Laurette had imagined, by creating the Laurette Fugain association .

What is the Laurette Fugain association?

The Laurette Fugain association aims to fight against leukemia. Its name, as well as that of the Laurette Théâtre, was inspired by the name of Laurette Fugain, daughter of Michel Fugain. The principle of the Laurette Fugain association is to support pediatric and adult medical research on the origins and treatment of this type of disease. The majority of the association's resources (more than 500,000 euros per year) are devoted to this project.

The aim of the Laurette Fugain association is also to make everyone, particularly younger generations, understand the importance of the Gifts of Life (blood, platelets, bone marrow); saving many patients suffering from leukemia and other diseases each year. The aim is to make them aware of the fact that donating blood, platelets or bone marrow can save lives.

The families and relatives of the sick are also among the people the Laurette Fugain association takes care of. It provides them with support and comfort, whether to improve their daily lives or to take care of sick people (outings, sports in hospital, donation of equipment for hospital services, etc.). Also, the association has set up a form of psychological support (forum on the website).

Created in memory of Laurette Fugain, the Laurette theater supports the association's actions.
