LAURETTE THEATER

Every summer, Avignon transforms into one of the world's greatest open-air theaters thanks to its Festival, attracting enthusiasts from all over Europe eager to attend theater, dance, and other live performances. In 2025, this unmissable cultural event returns for a highly anticipated new edition!

Whether you are a passionate enthusiast or simply curious, this summer promises a total immersion in the vibrant world of performing arts.

From July 5th to 26th, 2025, attend the Avignon Off Festival!

In 2025, the Festival dates are from July 5th to 26th!

For three weeks, the city will pulsate with a rich program that will once again shine a spotlight on hundreds of independent companies presenting their work. To this end, the streets will be transformed into a veritable theatrical journey, where artists will compete with each other in inventiveness to attract audiences.

The Off Festival offers an impressive diversity of shows : comedies, contemporary dramas, experimental creations, revisited classic plays... Every space in the city becomes a stage space: permanent theatres, ephemeral big tops, inner courtyards... This profusion opens the way to new talents!

The general atmosphere during all these dates of the Avignon Festival is very friendly, effervescent, and greatly promotes encounters between artists, spectators and performing arts professionals.

Attending the Avignon Off Festival, just like the In Festival, is also about participating in a human adventure where everyone is invited to create their own experience, choosing from hundreds of daily offerings. There's complete freedom, and that's what gives this cultural event its undeniable charm!

What is the difference with the Avignon Festival?

The Avignon Festival In and Off are not the same.

  • The Avignon Festival, known as the “In”, was founded in 1947 by Jean Vilar and is now recognized for its official program, chosen by an artistic director. The shows in this part of the event take place in emblematic venues such as the Cour d'Honneur of the Palais des Papes, the Carrière de Boulbon or the Chapelle des Pénitents blancs;

The "In" program is characterized by a more limited selection and a focus on more challenging works. Furthermore, the shows are produced with substantial resources, allowing for ambitious staging. The audience at the "In" is generally seeking demanding works and profound aesthetic or philosophical reflections. Tickets for these performances are highly sought after, and access can be more formal

  • At the Off Festival, any company can register, provided they find a partner theatre. This part of the event is therefore intended to be more accessible, both in terms of prices and programming, offering a possibility for spontaneity and a variety that the In Festival, by its nature more institutional, cannot always match.

Each festival, with its own identity, contributes to making Avignon a major center for live theatre!

How to reserve a seat for one of the plays being presented?

Booking a ticket to see a show at the Off Festival is a breeze; at the Laurette Theatre, we offer an online ticketing system that lets you access the booking form in just a few clicks. From our website, you can view the full program and select the shows you want to see!

Once you have chosen your show, you can book directly online, with immediate confirmation. As some performances are very popular, we advise you to book several days, or even several weeks, in advance.

For those who prefer improvisation, tickets are usually available on the day of the performance, depending on remaining capacity. However, advance purchase remains the best way to guarantee access to the flagship shows; the process is streamlined so everyone can focus on what matters most: fully enjoying the excitement of the Avignon Off Festival.

The Avignon Festival, with its official program and fringe events, is a unique artistic adventure. Each edition reinvents the magic of live performance, fueled by the enthusiasm of artists eager to share their passion with the public. Every date of the 2025 Avignon Festival promises new and unforgettable experiences, emotions, and moments suspended in time under the Provençal sky. Booking your tickets in advance while leaving room for spontaneity in your schedule is a strategy that will allow you to fully savor the unique energy of this unmissable event in contemporary theater.
