About the show:

They quickly discover that each of their roles is to become the executioner of the other two... "HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE"

Others may try to objectify me, but they cannot steal my freedom. No Exit is central to Sartrean existentialism. Once a person has chosen their actions, there is no going back. Sartre pushes this idea to its extreme: contemplating one's past life is a form of torture.

However, to consider No Exit as a pessimistic play would be a mistake: Man should be able to assume responsibility for his choices for eternity.

No Exit thus invites us to give meaning to our lives rather than simply enduring them. "We always die too soon – or too late. And yet life is there, over; the line is drawn, we must take stock. You are nothing other than your life."
